Why is it that those quickest to use the word "holiness" are the quickest to assert their own identity? I mean, there may not be a more theologically important word than "holiness." However, it is a word that is by no means easy to understand. Maybe it's the assumption that it is easy to understand that is the problem. Maybe it’s the failure to understand that the holiness of Jesus is just as bound to the disintegration both of oneself and of others as his saving work is bound to his damnation and theirs.
