There are land mines on every side of this already booby-trapped proposal, but among the tasks pressing down on white people, wherever they are on God’s green earth, is to realize that “white” is an accident of history, one that need not have arisen—let alone risen to power to assert itself violently to the detriment of everyone else. Nobody is white except in the eyes (and the legislation) of the principalities and powers of this present evil age. The gospel, among other things, calls every white person to die out to whiteness, that is, with Christ actually to die.
